I am looking forward to todays walk as my wife is joining me. We leave the car in Birkenhead and catch the bus to Hoylake to start the walk, but first we find a coffee shop for sustenance.
Did you know that Hoylake was where Eric Bartholomew first met up with Ernest Wiseman in the 1940’s who later became famous as Morecambe and Wise.
It’s a beautiful sunny day today and it’s market day in Neston where I start todays walk. The market seems to be quite lively and busy.
From Neston I follow the Wirral Way which is both a footpath and cycleway along the old railway line. The line was the Birkenhead Railway which went from near Ellesmere Port to West Kirby and joined up with another railway line.
Sadly, this is my last day walking in Wales on this trip. I get splendid views across the estuary to the Wirral on the English side of the River Dee.
From the station in Flint I make my way down to the castle which was built by Edward I. He built a chain of castles around North Wales in his attempt to conquer the country.
