Boscastle was waking up as I left the harbour. Lots of cottages and small businesses all ready for the spring and summer visitors.
Up onto Penally Point that guards the entrance to Boscastle harbour. After taking in the views back towards Boscastle and along the coast, I was on my way.
After all the rain there was a nice waterfall dropping into the sea at the Pentagon.
Following the coastline, I can see the Cambeak headland ahead. It seems to take ages to get there. We turn inland and drop down into the cove of Crackington Haven. I step into the cafe for a coffee and cake. Other than the lady behind the counter, I seem to be the only other person in the hamlet. Whilst drinking my coffee, a van pulls up and a man comes in for a drink. After a Hello, how you doing introduction, it turns out that the guy comes from Alsager, which is less than 10 miles from where I live.
There was a tough climb out of Crackington with plenty of zig-zagging through the gorse onto the cliff tops. It was then a long plod along the tops, a bit of road walking around Millook.
After a bright start to the day, I finished in rain at Widemouth Bay.
