Today we turn inland to follow the estuary of the Pembroke river..
This area is very much the powerhouse of Britain where a lot of our imported oil and gas comes in.

Day 041 : Manobier – Castlemartin
To the east of Manobier there is an MOD Air Training Defence camp. During the war, what is now the Youth Hostel was the Training school.
Manobier also has a castle which is privately owned which is open to the public but also hosts Events and weddings.
Day 040: Amroth – Manobier
Today is the start of my 186-mile trek of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, starting at Amroth, which is now incorporated in the Wales Coast Path.
I start with a stiff climb out of Amroth onto a grassy cliff top.
Day 039: Laugharne – Amroth
The welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, a great wordsmith who wore his heart on his sleeve, brings fame and notoriety to this corner of Wales.
Dylan lived in Laugharne for just four years with his wife Caitlin, living in the boathouse that was bought for him by a wealthy friend.
Day 038 : Llansteffan – Laugharne
A walk from castle to castle in Carmarthenshire.
Llansteffan Castle sits above the beach on the River Tywi across the river from Ferryside, where I was the day before.
Day 037 : Carmarthen – Llansteffan
A walk from the county town of Carmarthen down the other side of the River Towy to the village of Llansteffan and its castle.
As I walk away from Carmarthen along the River bank I was impressed with this railway bridge.
Day 036 : Kidwelly – Carrmarthen
Today, on a fine but hazy day, I follow the River Towy into Carmarthen.
I leave the road and walk along Kymers Canal to Kidwelly Quay.
Day 035 : Burry Port – Kidwelly
Today I take a circular walk through a country park overlooking Cardigan Bay
Walking through Burry Port I come across a blue plaque for Amelia Earhart commemorating her landing when she was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. Continue reading
Day 034 : Crofty – Burry Port
Today I am sad to say it’s time to leave the Gower. I have some wonderful beach walks, beautiful weather, and met some nice people.
I camped for the first time at Nicholaston Farm Site which was a wonderful family run camp site with good amenities and very helpful staff. Continue reading
Day 033 : Rhossili – Crofty
Today I will see a contrast between the sandy beaches of the South and West Gower and the salt marshes of North Gower.
I am looking forward to the 3 mile walk along the sands of Rhossili Bay, but before that I start with a por of tea and fruit scone at the Bistro overlooking the beach.
