Day 015 : Braunton – Ilfracombe

A miserable start to the day as I have to put on all my wet weather gear. But things improve as the day goes on.

b_015_169_Braunton_MarshI start with a five mile walk around Braughton Burrows. The rain was straight in my face. So with the hood of my jacket up and zipped over my chin, I found that my breath was steaming up the rain on my glasses. I ended up carrying my glasses, I couldn’t see with them on or off. If someone could invent ‘Stay Clear’ glasses they would make a fortune. Continue reading

Day 008 : Polzeath – Port Isaac

A shorter walk today. One because it was raining and second I had to make this walk circular to get back to my car as it was Sunday and there was no buses.

008_0064From Polzeath I follow the coastal path past all the guest houses and B & B’s to New Polzeath with its sandy beach. As it was raining and windy I didn’t linger long. I was straight up onto the headland towards Pentire Point. I could look across the estuary and see where I walked yesterday. Continue reading

Day 007 : Constantine Bay – Polzeath

Quiet sandy bays where the surfers like to play. Although it was a cold start to the day, the view and the walk across the sand cheered me up.

007_0028Booby’s Bay joins up with Constantine Bay where at low tide you can see the remains of a shipwreck. When you first see it you  think they are groynes but on second glance it looks like a giant ribcage opened up. Continue reading
